County Gutters were recently recommended by Simon Brown Interiors to provide a long-term, environmentally friendly guttering solution for a rural retreat nestled in the Hampshire countryside. The existing plastic guttering had failed, prompting the client to seek a more durable and sustainable alternative. After careful consultation, it was decided that a copper guttering system would be the ideal choice. Known for its recyclability, copper helps lower the property's carbon footprint, making it a greener option for homeowners looking to make environmentally-conscious choices.
While the initial cost of a copper guttering system may be higher than traditional materials, its benefits far outweigh the investment. Copper gutters are virtually maintenance-free, requiring minimal upkeep beyond occasional cleaning. Over time, the copper naturally oxidises, forming a distinctive green patina, known as Verdigris, similar to the iconic look of the Statue of Liberty. This process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the property but also prevents the growth of moss and lichen due to the natural disinfecting properties of copper. With a lifespan of over 100 years, the copper guttering system will provide the client with a long-lasting solution, saving money on repairs and replacements in the future.
