The Story: County Gutters Completes Successful Guttering System Overhaul at Godalming College Sports Centre

County Gutters has successfully completed a challenging guttering project at Godalming College Sports Centre after being approached by the main contractor, Mostlane. The original guttering system had suffered significant failure, with sections falling off due to a poor design involving rear outlets and horizontally running pipes. These pipes, prone to blockages, caused water to accumulate, leading to an immense build-up of weight and eventual system failure. After surveying the site, County Gutters proposed a new, more effective design that would prevent further issues and ensure longevity.

The newly designed system featured a three-piece configuration consisting of a 3mm internal box gutter, bullnose fascia, and soffit, all supported by 3mm galvanised web brackets. The primary challenge was matching the architectural design of the existing bullnose while incorporating an independent internal gutter within the fascia and soffit. County Gutters provided CAD drawings for approval, and once the design and costings were agreed, the manufacturing process began. The system was constructed with Trueline aluminium fascia, top hat soffits, and reinforced with web brackets every 900mm to support the gutter. The installation process involved precise measurements using a laser to ensure a 20mm fall, facilitating optimal water flow to the newly added 105-degree projections that connected to the rainwater pipes.

The use of aluminium for the rainwater system and roofline products underscores the project's commitment to sustainability. Aluminium is made from recycled materials, and its properties allow it to be infinitely recyclable without degradation. Additionally, the material’s lightweight nature made installation easier and safer, while its durability ensures a lifespan of over 60 years with minimal maintenance. County Gutters was selected for this project due to its expertise in handling complex installations, a challenge that no other local guttering company was prepared to tackle.
