Country House and Barn, Hampshire
We were recommended to Simon Brown Interiors for a guttering project on this rural retreat deep in the Hampshire countryside. The existing plastic guttering had failed and client was looking for a long term, environmentally friendly solution to replace it, as copper is 100% recyclable it helps to lower your carbon footprint by using it, this system is virtually maintenance free apart from cleaning the inside, it will never need cleaning or decorating, over a period of time the colour change will be noticeable, it oxides to form a green patina of compounds called Verdigris, more commonly seen on the Statue of Liberty. Copper has a unique trait which slightly disinfects the water as it runs through it, this acts as a mild algaecide and prevents the growth of moss and lichen.
Slightly more expense for the initial outlay will pay dividends as this system has a lifecycle of 100 years plus.
