Residential Guttering Projects
Location: Studland, Dorset
County Gutters recently completed the restoration and installation of rainwater goods at Studland Bay House, a striking Edwardian mansion overlooking Studland Bay and Old Harry Rocks in Dorset. The project involved replacing the original, deteriorating cast iron rainwater goods with modern, high-quality alternatives that would maintain the historic character of the property while offering superior durability. To achieve this, 150mm Victorian ogee gutters and 76mm round cast collar rainwater pipes were carefully selected for their ability to handle high water volumes and their traditional aesthetic. Additionally, marine-grade powder coating was applied to all new components to ensure resilience against the challenging coastal conditions, preventing corrosion and extending the lifespan of the system.
The installation was carried out with precision to blend seamlessly with the existing architecture, preserving the mansion’s historic charm while improving its functionality. Cast aluminium hopper heads were chosen to replace the aging cast iron ones, providing both an elegant finish and enhanced durability. As a result, the property now benefits from a robust, low-maintenance rainwater management system that not only protects it from water damage but also enhances its visual appeal. This project highlights County Gutters' expertise in combining traditional aesthetics with modern engineering, ensuring that historic properties like Studland Bay House remain both beautiful and well-protected for years to come.
